Leave Sunday alone
July 30, 2009
I am concerned about the growing secularization of our culture: we leave little time or space for the sacred. This has not been a massive assault, but rather an incremental chipping away at elements of our culture that honor the sacred: this includes the need for rest, reflection and worship. For many people, life is experienced as simply one thing after another, one day after another, and many are feeling more and more trapped in a ‘rat race.’ For me, this debate is not about alcohol. It’s a question of making Sunday just one more day like any other during the week.
